Job Description Summary

As a member of the Enterprise Application Services team within Information Technology the position will assume a critical role in supporting the Oracle-based Ellucian Banner system and other administrative applications running on multiple hardware and software platforms. You will work closely with clients and peers to apply systems analysis and design techniques to analyze and evaluate business and/or educational needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

1. Analyze functional business requirements and recommend technical solutions.
2. Work individually and with project teams to evaluate, recommend, implement and integrate hardware and software solutions to support project requirements.
3. Maintain and enhance existing software applications and underlying database objects, which are mostly written in PL/SQL, Java, Groovy, Grails and Javascript.
4. Compile and write documentation of program development and subsequent revisions, inserting comments in the coded instructions so others can understand the program.
5. Ensure data and system integrity.
6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advances in information systems technology, including software development tools and techniques.
7. Perform other duties and projects as assigned or directed.
8. Integrate safety practices into daily activities.
9. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Education (minimum requirements)

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management of information systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

• Relevant experience using SQL/relational databases.
• Experience developing web based applications.
• Experience in programming languages (e.g. PL/SQL, Java, Perl, C, C++).
• Experience with program development applications/tools.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

• Experience working in an academic environment.
• Experience writing and maintaining Groovy based code.
• Experience writing and maintaining Java based code to support business processes.
• Experience using Ellucian Banner products.
• Experience using Ellucian Luminis.
• Experience using Ellucian Workflow.
• Experience developing JSR-168 or JSR-268 compliant Portlets.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop environment.
