Job Description Summary

Michigan Technological University is seeking a new and dynamic colleague to join our ongoing campus-wide human-health initiative. Our vision is to build upon a decade-long effort to increase health-oriented research and education at Michigan Tech, with a particular focus on accelerating sponsored research from NIH and other health-focused agencies, industries, and foundations. Over recent fiscal years, NIH research represents one of the fastest growing sectors of sponsored research on campus.

Our next colleague will contribute to teaching, research, and scholarship within an academic unit that is aligned with preventative and community health education and research. Such units include, but are not limited to, Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology, Biological Sciences, and Social Sciences. Salary and start-up packages will be competitive and commensurate with credentials and experience.

Preference will be given to candidates with a record of federal, foundation, or industry funding that would warrant appointment as a tenured associate or full professor. Investigators with active research awards and programs that can be successfully implemented in support of preventive and community health research at Michigan Tech are particularly encouraged to apply.

While we anticipate the majority of applicants to have a Ph.D., we have partnered with two local healthcare providers to allow an option that would allow a M.D. or D.O. to be hired jointly in the following areas that align between one of the healthcare systems and Michigan Tech: cardiology, emergency medicine, pediatrics, primary care, obstetrics and gynecology, and sleep medicine.

This endowed position is possible due to not only the genuine grass-roots effort to increase human health research at Michigan Tech, but also the generous support of the Portage Health Foundation, a local foundation that supports the regional health needs of our community. Investigators seeking a supportive environment where their input and ideas matter are strongly encouraged to apply.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
