Job Description Summary

Are you of a curious nature with an eye for the detail and the big picture? Do you want to be part of an incredible team making a difference in the lives of others? Do you like to use analytical tools to solve problems and create well written reports to share your findings? If so, this job is for you. You’ll spend your days working through a variety of complex projects spanning from individual, corporate, and foundation research and analysis to identifying fundraising trends, benchmarking, and predictive modeling. You’ll also have an opportunity to prepare timely communications for donors, assist in special projects and work with a dynamic team helping to solve problems. Professional training in data research and analysis and learning new research strategy will be available through a variety of professional organizations and institutes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

1. Perform complex professional level projects including; conducting research, data analysis, and implementing solutions to achieve project goals and objectives.

2. Analyze and practice effective communication strategies across programs, departments, and with donors.

3. Develop, summarize, and maintain administrative, operations and fundraising records.

4. Create, maintain, and update standard and ad hoc reports in collaboration with Student Affairs and Advancement colleagues.

5. Create personalized and timely communications for donors.

6. Supporting strategic donor development by researching financial, biographical, and affinity data on individuals, corporations and private foundations assessing financial capacity and likeliness for philanthropy.

7. Partner with Advancement Research colleagues to identify and manage qualified prospects via predictive models, engagement scores, and capacity ratings and apply biographical and financial information on individuals based on the Office of Advancement and Alumni Engagement’s strategies and objectives.

8. In partnership with Student Affairs and Advancement Information Systems (SAIS) and Enterprise Application Services (EAS) initiate and perform data analytics, predictive modeling, and manage the donor/giving database for efficiencies and accuracy.

9. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.

10. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.

Required Education (minimum requirements)

• Bachelor’s degree.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

• Four years of experience using personal computers and basic software packages.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, marketing, economics, information systems, finance, or business or experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements)

• Demonstrated ability to use judgment when dealing with highly confidential information.

• Demonstrated aptitude for writing including knowledge of proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.

• Demonstrated ability to independently organize and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail and accuracy.

• Advanced features of MS Excel.

• Demonstrated ability to explain and convey complex information for multiple audiences.

• Demonstrated ability to utilize a variety of resources to gather information.

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

• Demonstrated ability to take the initiative to effectively solve problems.

• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and contribute to the overall smooth operation of the department.

• Demonstrated ability to learn new computer software skills.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.

• Demonstrated commitment to contribute to a safe work environment.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

• Familiarity with presentation software, data analytic tools, Banner and coding.

• Skill in analyzing and organizing information to identify philanthropic patterns, tendencies, and relationships among individuals, corporations, and foundations.

• Proficiency with LexisNexis.

Work Environment and/or Physical Demands

The work environment is that of a typical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Required Training and Other Conditions of Employment
