Job Description Summary

Michigan Technological University Department of Computer Science invites applications for the position of Lecturer. The successful candidate should be able to teach across the CS curriculum and cybersecurity field, and is expected to work with the faculty to incorporate cybersecurity related topics into existing courses.

Lecturers are appointed for two‐year, renewable terms, and there is opportunity for promotion to Senior Lecturer and Principal Lecturer positions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

Teach across the CS curriculum and cybersecurity field. The expected teaching load is three courses per semester.

Work with faculty to incorporate cybersecurity related topics into existing courses.

Contribute to the departmental service needs.

Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.

Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work.

Required Education (minimum requirements)

MS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related area from an accredited institution.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

Teaching experience or evidence of the ability to teach within the Computer Science curriculum and cybersecurity field.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related area from an accredited institution.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements)

Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to teach and the potential for excellence in teaching.

The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

The Department has 20 faculty, 460 undergraduate students in two degree programs (Computer Science and Software Engineering) and 50 students in MS in Computer Science, MS in Cybersecurity, and PhD in Computer Science programs.
