Job Description Summary

Michigan Technological University, a nationally recognized leader in science and engineering education and research, invites applicants for a Lecturer position in the Department of Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology. Applicants in all fields of Kinesiology will be considered with preference given to a candidate who can contribute to our B.S. in Fitness and Sports Management. This is a non-tenure track, 9-month position, with an additional 1 month of summer salary for expected work with summer internships (pending enrollment).

Candidates must have an M.S. degree in Kinesiology, Sports Management, or closely related field. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both graduate and undergraduate level courses related to both baccalaureate degrees, with a particular interest in courses related to sports management. Our next colleague will be expected to deliver existing courses, develop new courses that keep pace with changes in the discipline, assist with course-work M.S. degree advising and internship coordination, and assist with outreach to promote the department and its programs both on campus and within the community. Candidates will engage in departmental, college, and university service; depending upon candidate expertise, this may include departmental safety liason responsibilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

1. Contribute teaching relevant to kinesiology, particularly courses in the B.S. in Sports and Fitness Management.
2. Assist with course-work M.S. degree advising and internship coordination.
3. Assist with departmental outreach and service.
4. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.

Required Education (minimum requirements)

Earned Master’s Degree (M.S., M.A) related to Kinesiology, Sports Management, or closely related field.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

Credentials consistent with appointment at the rank of Lecturer.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

Earned doctorate (Ph.D., DPT, etc.) related to Kinesiology, Sports Management, or closely related field.

Direct experience with college teaching.

The Department of Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology is home to approximately 120 undergraduate and graduate students. We offer two baccalaureate degrees (B.S., Exercise Science; B.S., Sports & Fitness Management), an M.S. in Kinesiology, and a Ph.D. in Integrative Physiology.
