Job Description Summary

Michigan Technological University, a nationally recognized leader in science and engineering education and research, invites applications for a non-tenure-track faculty position in the ETAC-ABET accredited Mechanical Engineering Technology program within the School of Technology starting August 2018. Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach undergraduate classes and laboratories, create innovative instructional materials and laboratory experiences, participate in program assessment activity related to accreditation, and perform student advising and other departmental service.

Required Education (minimum requirements)

Master’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or a closely-related engineering or engineering technology field from an accredited institution.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

(1) Evidence of strong oral and written communication, computer, and presentation skills;
(2) Motivation to develop partnerships with industry;
(3) Evidence of five years of relevant industrial experience.

Desirable Education and/or Experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements)

The successful applicants will demonstrate appropriate technical expertise to teach fundamental courses such as computer technology applications, engineering materials, parametric 3D CAD modeling, statics and strength of materials, dynamics, machine design, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.

In addition, applicants should also be qualified to teach mechanical engineering technology courses from at least two of the following areas: manufacturing processes; fluids and power systems; and computer-aided engineering.

The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
