Job Description Summary

We are seeking a talented Creative Director to join our team. The perfect candidate will have at least six years’ experience as a creative lead working in an agency or university environment. Must have experience with high-level design aesthetic and detail. Must possess strategic and innovative thinking skills, and the ability to develop and maintain schedules. Experience in broadcast, print, digital, online advertising, mobile, online video, social media concepting, and graphic production are a must. This person will be a creative storyteller and brand champion—through all forms of media (print, web, video, photography).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

1.Manage concept, design, and execution of the brand creative

2.Maintain and establish high creative standards

3.Work collaboratively with UMC Director to ensure consistency of design

4.Generate ideas that bring the brand to life

5.Oversee the art direction to ensure concepts and brand vision are consistently compelling

6.Inspire, motivate, and manage creative professionals to take their work to the next level

7.Supervise designers

8.Supervise all pre- and post-production design work; manage tight deadlines

9.Inspire visual team, including photographers and videographers

10.Concept and execute all content for all social channels

11.Work with PR team to create compelling news and research ideas and execution

12.Work with brand manager to ensure visuals for the brand align with message

13.Manage time effectively and with little direction to help projects stay on budget and on time

14.Create and present design concepts

15.Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and familiar with the other programs in the Adobe Creative Suite

16.Familiarity with designing for web

17.Stays current with the latest emerging design and technology trends to find ways to help move work for clients and brands forward

18.Effectively sell ideas both internally and with clients.

19.Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.

20. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work.

Required Education (minimum requirements)

•Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, communications, business, or a
related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

•At least 6 years of experience as a creative lead in higher education or agency
•Experience with graphic design, writing, video production, and project management.
•Experience managing a creative team.
•Proven track record of leading creative projects from idea to implementation.
•Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of a wide range of marketing strategies.
•Experience using computers and basic software packages.
