Job Description Summary

Provide reception, clerical and operational functions for the Center for Diversity and Inclusion.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

1. Provide exemplary customer service; receive and screen incoming phone calls, handle routine inquiries and using good judgment and discretion to resolve non-routine issues; independently respond to questions about policies and procedures to resolve issues and/or facilitate contact with appropriate personnel when required.

2. Manage the noise level in the reception area.

3. Create a monthly and or quarterly CDI newsletter.

4. Provide programming and travel support for two of the professional staff members.

5. Coordinate staff meetings and take minutes.

6. Make travel arrangements for all guests for Social Justice Lecture Series and special functions/events.

7. Assist with the travel of student organizations to conferences.

8. Assist with EPAF’s to set up new student employees.

9. Create the student staff work schedule each semester.

10. Assist with updating the website.

11. Assist with ordering supplies and purchase card allocations.

12. Compile information about upcoming events and opportunities available to students and compose and send the information by e-mail to all CDI students weekly.

13. Serve as the space and equipment coordinator for the department.

14. Assist the Safety Coordinator.

15. Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.

16. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
Required Education (minimum requirements)

• High school diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

• Two years of office/clerical experience.
• Two years of experience using computers and basic software knowledge.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

• Experience working in higher education setting.
• Experience working with diverse, underserved populations.
• Supervisory experience.

• Demonstrated ability to use judgment when dealing with confidential information.

• Demonstrated knowledge of proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.
