Job Description Summary

The School of Business and Economics at Michigan Technological University invites applications for a full-time position of Assistant Professor (tenure track) in the area of Applied Microeconomics, starting August 2018. The successful applicant will have demonstrated the ability and willingness to (i) actively contribute to the policy-related research focus of one or more of Michigan Tech’s research centers or institutes (http://www.mtu.edu/research/about/centers-institutes/) and (ii) teach MBA Managerial Economics, undergraduate Microeconomic field courses and Principles of Economics.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

• Expected to develop a nationally visible research program and actively contribute to the policy-related research focus of one or more of Michigan Tech’s research centers or institutes (http://www.mtu.edu/research/about/centers-institutes/)

• Teach MBA Managerial Economics, undergraduate Microeconomic field courses and Principles of Economics effectively.

• Actively participate in service needs of the School of Business and Economics and Michigan Tech.

• Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.

• Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work.

Required Education (minimum requirements)

PhD in Economics is required. Exceptional ABD applicants completing their PhD in Economics by August 20, 2018 will be considered.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

Teaching experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements)

• Ability to teach MBA Managerial Economics, undergraduate Microeconomic field courses and Principles of Economics
• Ability to contribute to the policy-oriented research focus of one or more of Michigan Tech’s research centers or institutes
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.
