|Job Description Summary||
The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Michigan Technological University invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Michigan Tech BME seeks an outstanding candidate who can add to our existing research and teaching strengths in biomechanics and biofluid mechanics. Applicants that can teach courses in biomedical thermodynamics/fluid mechanics and integrate into our broad cardiovascular research emphasis are of particular interest. Post-doctoral or industry experience is preferred. We encourage applications from individuals with strong engineering and mathematical skills who can form productive collaborations with other units of the Michigan Tech College of Engineering.
|Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)||
1. Teach core undergraduate courses in biomedical thermodynamics/fluid mechanics and graduate courses related to their own research expertise.
|Required Education (minimum requirements)||
PhD in an engineering discipline or a closely related field.
|Required Experience (minimum requirements)||
Applicants must demonstrate the ability to establish a rigorous, externally funded research program.
|Desirable Education and/or Experience||
Post-doctoral or industry experience is preferred.
Applicants that can teach courses in biomedical thermodynamics/fluid mechanics, integrate into our broad cardiovascular research emphasis, and expand the Department’s already strong industrial ties are of particular interest.
Preferred candidates will have a specialty in research related to the human cardiovascular system.
|Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements)||
Applicants will have strong engineering and mathematical skills, along with excellent communication skills.
|Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities||
Applicants will have the ability to form productive external collaborations with the medical device industry as well as with other units of the Michigan Tech College of Engineering.
|Work Environment and/or Physical Demands||
The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
