Job Description Summary

Michigan Technological University’s Department of Computer Science invites applications for one or more non-tenure track Lecturer positions beginning August 2017 or Spring 2018. Applicants in all fields of Computer Science will be considered. The Department seeks individuals who can teach across the Computer Science curriculum, particularly second and third year Systems courses.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

• Teach and develop undergraduate courses. The typical teaching load is three courses per semester.
• Assist in curriculum evaluation and development.
• Provide service to the department.
• Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
• Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work.

Required Education (minimum requirements)

• M.S. or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

• Teaching experience in computer science courses.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

ABET experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements)

• Strong interpersonal skills.

The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Additional Information

The Department has 19 faculty, 450 undergraduate students in two degree programs (Computer Science and Software Engineering) and 48 M.S. and Ph.D. students. Faculty research interests include architecture, artificial intelligence, compilers, distributed systems, education, embedded and multimedia systems, graphics, human computer interaction, machine learning, mobile computing, software engineering, virtual environments, visualization, security, and wireless networking. The Department is a member of the university’s Alliance for Computing, Information & Automation and participates in several interdisciplinary initiatives, including the Data Science graduate program.
