Job Description Summary

Michigan Technological University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites applications for a non-tenure track Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Professor of Practice. Applicants in all fields of electrical and computer engineering will be considered. The Department seeks individuals who bring experience in engineering design, project management, and student mentoring to our undergraduate teaching program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

• Oversight of Senior Design program.
• Teaching core electrical and/or computer engineering classes.
• May include teaching senior-level courses and providing occasional research support.
• Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
• Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work.

Required Education (minimum requirements)

M.S. or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

• Minimum of one year teaching in an accredited engineering program.
• Experience designing electrical or electronic circuits and systems.
• Experience in managing engineering project design teams.
• Applicants for the Professor of Practice position must have 10 years of industrial engineering design and project management experience.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

• PhD or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

• Demonstrable ability in electronic circuit/system design and implementation.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong project management skills.

Work Environment and/or Physical Demands

The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
